Get to Know Us
From local residents and tourists to American Presidents, we've been serving Downtown Altoona for nearly 100 years!
In 1918, Peter George opened and operated a small dinner called Texas Hot Wieners. This diner became a downtown landmark and favorite destination of many Altoona residents and visitors alike.
In 1972, Peter's daughter, Niai George Lamont, purchased the original downtown business known as Texas Hot Dogs. During that time her husband, Daniel Lamont along with their son, Robert Lamont handled daily restaurant operations.
Robert Lamont and his wife, Cindy became owners of Texas Hot Dogs located at 1122 12th Avenue in the 1980’s. Their sons, Daniel and Alex worked in the family restaurant during the 1990’s. Their daughter, Sophia Lamont joined the business in 2001 and has participated in all areas of operations. Texas Hot Dogs has been a family run business for nearly 100 years.
